prison. At Rwanda's Gitarama Prison, 7,000 inmates are forced to share

a building that was only made to house 400.

The Turkey Prison Diyarbakir is eighth for brutally treating its

prisoners. The inhumane living condition and sexual abuse of its

prisoners are common in this prison.







7) Bang Kwang Prison, Thailand



Also known as the "Bangkok Hilton," Thailand's Bang Kwang is where the

nastiest criminals in Southeast Asia wind up. There's no sentence

shorter than 25 years here, so all of these guys are in for the long

haul.







6) La Sabaneta Prison, Venezuela



The sixth spot is given to the Venezuela prison La Sabaneta. This

prison is known especially for its disease out breaks. Poor medical

services and deficient supply of food are the notable features of this

prison.







5) La Sante Penitentiary, Paris



La Sante Prison in Paris is notorious for having one of the highest

suicide rates in the Western world. More prisoners kill themselves

every year as a result of being subjected to extreme torture.







4) Tadmor Prison, Syria



The Tadmor Prison in Syria takes the fourth place for its heinous

prison conditions. The violence is merciless and gruesome. A former

prisoner described the prison as 'kingdom of death and madness.'







3) Petak Island Prison, Russian



The Petak island Prison in Russia is completely made up of rocks and

the most notorious criminals are imprisoned here. Nobody has ever

managed to escape this prison making it one of the most dangerous

prisons in the world.







2) Carandiru Prison, Brazil



The carandiru prison in Brazil comes second for being the most

dangerous and worst prison in the world. In the 1992 massacre led by

the police, the death toll of the general population was unbelievably

high.







1) Camp 22, North Korea



The camp 22 in North Korea tops our list. It is an extremely isolated

prison and the North Korean government even denies its existence. It

holds up to 50,000 prisoners.
