KITUYI REVEALS that it was not UHURU KENYATTA who lobbied for the UN job; it was PAUL KAGAME
Thursday May 23, 2013 - Former Trade Minister, Mukhisa Kituyi, has said nobody from Kenya lobbied for his election to head the United Nation Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).
Speaking during a fundraising for the funeral of Steve Wamalwa, Eugene Wamalwa's brother at Railways Club in Nairobi on Wednesday, Kituyi said nobody from Western and Central provinces lobbied for his election to the United Nations.
He also dismissed reports that President Uhuru Kenyatta lobbied for his job, saying it is only President Kagame of Rwanda who lobbied for his election.
He said he was nominated by UN Secretary General, Ban-Ki-Moon, to lead UNCTAD.
If confirmed by the UN General Assembly, Kituyi will succeed Supachai Panitchpakdi, from Thailand.
