Three Rwandan nationals have reportedly been arrested for the murder
of Rwanda's former spy chief Patrick Karegeya.
Karegeya was last week found dead in the Michelangelo Towers Hotel in
Sandton, Johannesburg. He was allegedly living in exile in South
Africa.
According to a Times Live report, the three men were arrested in
Mozambique. Rwanda's Lt-Col Francis Gakwere was reportedly one of the
men arrested for the murder.
"Gwakere was also a prime suspect in the failed hit on General Kayumba
Nyamwasa in 2010 but there was insufficient evidence to allow the
charges to stick," private investigator Chad Thomas was quoted as
saying in the report.
Three suspects are reportedly still on the run.
Rwandan President Paul Kagame has been accused of ordering the death
of Karegeya but he has denied the claims.
