RwandAir will launch their long-awaited commercial flights from Kigali
to Douala next Monday, a new route which the airline intends to serve
5 times a week using one of their new Bombardier CRJ900NextGen
aircraft. The route will operate out of Kigali every Monday,
Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, leaving Rwanda's capital at
1345 hours, a time which offers direct connections from Entebbe,
Nairobi, Dar es Salaam and Kilimanjaro but also from RwandAir's Dubai
flights.
With 7 business class and 68 economy class seats passengers from
Douala to Kigali or beyond to the East African destinations, to South
Africa or even to Dubai will enjoy the same comfort level as on the
carrier's larger Boeing B737-800s and B737-700s.

Douala is RwandAir's 5th West Africa destination after Brazzaville,
Libreville, Lagos and Accra and the widening of the airline's
footprint across the continent manifests the carrier's desire to
connect the continent through Kigali.

Only four weeks ago RwandAir took delivery of another brand new
aircraft, making their fleet one of the youngest in Africa, when a
Bombardier Q400NextGen flew into Kigali. Even this turboprop aircraft
offers a dual class configuration of 7 business and 60 economy class
seats, replacing the single class Dash 8 and making sure that business
and economy class are now available on all 7 aircraft in the fleet.

RwandAir's next new destination will be Abidjan, to be launched later
in the year, increasing the overall number of destinations to 17 and 6
in West Africa. For additional information about RwandAir's
destinations, schedules and more click on www.rwandair.com.

How Rwanda Got It Wrong: The Moral Cost of Profiting from Congo's Suffering.

Introduction. At the 20th Umushyikirano National Dialogue Council in Kigali in February 2026, President Paul Kagame publicly stated that it is acceptable for minerals originating in the Democratic Republic of Congo to pass through Rwanda and be sold internationally. Whilst defending Rwanda's ambitions to become a mineral processing hub, he likened this practice to passengers travelling through Kigali airport en route to other destinations, arguing that whilst wealthy countries benefit most from this trade, Rwanda's participation is normal and justified. However, this framing fundamentally misrepresents a deeply troubling reality: the minerals in question are not legitimately transiting through Rwanda as part of normal trade, but are being extracted under conditions of conflict, violence, and mass suffering imposed by Rwandan-backed forces. The distinction between legitimate cross-border trade and the current situation cannot be overstated. Cross-border commerce between Rwan...
