Two Tanzanian students were allegedly raped by a 26-year-old disc
jockey (DJ) and his friend, an event manager, at a flat in Sarojini
Nagar area of south Delhi on Friday afternoon.
The police said that the accused have been identified as Kunal, 26 and
Satish Singh, 27. Both have been arrested. While Kunal stays in north
Delhi's Shastri Nagar area with his family, Satish Singh is a resident
of R.K. Puram and works as an event manager with a private company.
While the women alleged that they were raped, the accused in their
counter allegation claimed that the victims filed the complaint
against them following a dispute over money. Nonetheless, the accused
were produced before a Delhi court that sent them to Tihar jail on
Saturday morning.
A senior police officer said that they came to know about the incident
at about 4.30 pm on Friday when they received a PCR call regarding a
quarrel between two parties in Sarojini Nagar.
"A police team reached the place from where the call was made. Two
Tanzania women who were present there alleged that they were raped by
two men at their friend's flat. The women were brought to the Sarojini
Nagar police station and their statements were recorded, on the basis
of which a case of rape was registered at the Sarojini Nagar police
station and the two accused were arrested," said the police officer.
The women, the officer said, met the accused at a discotheque located
at a prominent hotel in south Delhi's Nehru Place. The accused
befriended the women and convinced them to accompany them to their
friend's flat in Sarojini Nagar.
The police added that they purchased a bottle of liquor which they
shared with the two women in the car in which they were traveling.
The women were brought to the flat where they were allegedly raped,"
said the officer, adding that, "An argument broke out between them
over some money issue and the victims called the police."

How Rwanda Got It Wrong: The Moral Cost of Profiting from Congo's Suffering.

Introduction. At the 20th Umushyikirano National Dialogue Council in Kigali in February 2026, President Paul Kagame publicly stated that it is acceptable for minerals originating in the Democratic Republic of Congo to pass through Rwanda and be sold internationally. Whilst defending Rwanda's ambitions to become a mineral processing hub, he likened this practice to passengers travelling through Kigali airport en route to other destinations, arguing that whilst wealthy countries benefit most from this trade, Rwanda's participation is normal and justified. However, this framing fundamentally misrepresents a deeply troubling reality: the minerals in question are not legitimately transiting through Rwanda as part of normal trade, but are being extracted under conditions of conflict, violence, and mass suffering imposed by Rwandan-backed forces. The distinction between legitimate cross-border trade and the current situation cannot be overstated. Cross-border commerce between Rwan...
